ABSTRACT

Purpose: During the Covid-19 period, when human beings are socially isolated, telework is a viable solution to safeguard employees' health. Because many employees have never experienced such a working system and organizations have not planned for it before the pandemic, imposing employees to telework has adversely affected their productivity and efficiency. This study aims to identify factors affecting individuals' tendency toward teleworking during the pandemic, which can lead to practical solutions for the post-pandemic era. Design/methodology/approach: Through the use of technology acceptance models, a conceptual model was designed. Data used to assess the model were cross-sectional and derived from 229 questionnaires filled out by employees in Tehran. The AMOS24 software processed the corresponding structural equation model. Findings: The results from the cross-sectional data indicated that attitude toward telework and perceived behavioral control over the system were significantly correlated directly with the intention to telework, while perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of telework were correlated indirectly. Therefore, the integrated model predicts behavioral intentions better than single models performed separately. Originality/value: Psychological and mental health research describing adoption intentions of telework, particularly those focusing on employees, is still lacking. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study in this regard that has used a conceptual model derived from two technology acceptance models during the Covid-19 outbreak. An era in which the extent of the pandemic has forced employees to experience such working systems and thus the importance and practicality of teleworking have been more evident to nearly every individual. © 2022, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

With the advent of COVID-19, the corporate world underwent a massive change. This stressed the need of effective employee engagement more than ever. Therefore, this study aims to understand the various dimensions of employee engagement and the use of Natural Language Processing to ensure an engaged workforce. To understand the problem, primary data collection was done with the help of interviews. The authors conducted interviews of 100 professionals from manufacturing, FMCG and IT companies in India to understand the problem from the root level. The paper then proposes a model, i.e., the PAUSE model which aims at categorizing the broad topic of employee engagement into five distinct categories. These categories tell us about the various areas in which employees can feel a sense of detachment or disengagement towards the organization. The model then suggests corrective actions that can be taken at the ground level to improve engagement in the targeted category. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 epidemic has rapidly spread in the electronics industry, resulting in a lack of labor in the production of products for export. Because employees were infected with COVID-19 and had to stop being detained according to government policies. Reasons for the rapid spread are born from employees' not having a proper understanding of the care and protecting themselves from COVID-19. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a training model in accordance with the current situation to increase the understanding of COVID-19 for employees. In this paper, we propose a training style through the application of mobile learning, accompanying the illustrated cartoons, to strengthen the surveillance, prevention, and control behaviors of COVID-19 among employees in the electronics industry. The samples in this study were five hundred and twelve employees in the electronics industry, factory 8. we have developed a mobile learning training model where employees scan QR-CODE and register for training. assessment and measurement of learning achievement before training and after training of employees in the electronics industry, employee behavior observation records and assesses satisfaction with the training style through the application of mobile learning, accompanying the illustrated cartoons, to strengthen the surveillance, prevention, and control behaviors of COVID-19 among employees in the electronics industry. An academic achievement after learning of employees is higher than an academic achievement before training. Statistically significant at the 0.01 level. After training, employees have behaviors of surveillance, prevention, and control of COVID-19 in the electronics industry than before training. Statistically significant at the 0.05 level. The employees who are trained by the application of mobile learning, accompanying the illustrated cartoons, are very satisfied. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Building on the social exchange theory and the norm of reciprocity, this study examines the effect of high-performance work systems (HPWS) during the COVID-19 pandemic on employee's risk-taking behavior and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Among the aforementioned links, perceived safety climate was theorized as a mediating mechanism. Design/methodology/approach: Multisource and time-lagged data were gathered from a sample of employees and their supervisors working in Palestinian nonprofit organizations. Findings: HPWS were shown to boost risk-taking behavior during COVID-19 pandemic. The direct effect between HPWS and OCB was not significant. Furthermore, safety climate mediated the effect of HPWS on both risk-taking behavior and OCB. Practical implications: The study's findings can be used by managers with regard to the utility of HPWS during times of crises and their impact on important behavioral outcomes. Originality/value: HRM scholars have started to look at how HR practices can be useful in helping to overcome a pandemic. However, limited empirical knowledge is available on the effects of HPWS on employees' work outcomes during crises. The study is aimed at addressing the aforementioned gap. ABSTRACT

In 2013, Yahoo! CEO announced that the company will no longer be allowing telework, reasoning that exchange of ideas occurs in informal conversations just as much as formal ones. In 2017, IBM too announced the termination of telework, despite the fact that their remote employees exhibited greater work satisfaction. Then came Covid-19, forcing companies around the world to institute telework with zero time to plan or prepare. According to OECD data from 2020, telework may very well become a staple of the work environment;it has many advantages, including saved commuting costs, enhanced productivity, and increased employee satisfaction. At the same time, it poses several considerable challenges to management, technology, and social interaction. This paper wishes to examine which roles and employees can adopt this type of work scheme, which requires specific personality and behavioral traits. Building on Madhala and Bental (The ability to work from home among workers in Israel, 2020), we sampled employees telework-facilitating fields. 72% of the respondents expressed their desire to work from home and believe this method will have a positive effect on their quality of life. We also learned that women, parents of children under the age of 6, and persons aged 56–65 are more capable of working from home. Desire and ability to telework were also found to be affected by level of education and duration of commute. These findings point to the potential benefits of telework for reducing traffic. We also found that salaried employees display better telework adaptivity than self-employed. The same balance holds true for private vs. public sector employees. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

The failure or success of an enterprise depends upon its working capital management practices (WCMP) along with effective corporate social responsibilities (CSR) and social entrepreneurship (SE). These factors ensure not only the soundness of financial indicators but also the profitability of an enterprise. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the impact of CSR, SE, and WCMP on the performance of small-medium enterprises (SMEs) of tourism sector, during the lockdown period in Malaysia. The goals also include the investigation of moderating role of employee behavior (EB) among the nexus of CSR, SE, WCMP, and performance of SMEs. The survey was performed to find out the practices adopted by the SMEs during corona days. A quantitative research method has been adopted to get data with convenient sampling technique, and PLS-SEM has been exploited to find out the significant nexus among CSR, SE, WCMP, and the performance of SMEs. The results indicate that CSR, SE, and WCMP have a positive association with the performance of SMEs in Malaysia. The results also indicate that EB positively moderates among the nexus of CSR, SE, WCMP, and the performance of SMEs in Malaysia. Stock review strategies by the SMEs during the corona days also exhibit significant differences except for no stock review. Significant differences between the enterprises show a lack of adaptation of the financial indicators that determine enterprise soundness. The study not only provides guidelines for entrepreneurs of SMEs but also helps in maintaining standards for the evaluation of the enterprises.
